ONE READER SENT PHOTOS OF HIS YAMAHA MAXIM CHOP and here it is
This is a 1985 700 cc Yamaha Maxim. It is a american import.
I am in England where I had many friends help out with my chop.
So my first thank you goes to Lincs bikes and trikes who without them this project would have never been completed… and the pnoc group as they helped out with many bits such as the mudguard that we chopped.
The frame has been modified in every way bar the neck.
The swing arm and drive shaft have been lengthened by 7 1/2 inches and then boxed off.
The seat has been custom made and the rear mudguard came from Billy Lane in the usa!
The bars are highway hawke and the risers are custom billit spikes.
The lovely spoked wheels are off a 1100 virago which was a perfect fit.
I have also done away with most of the switches and clocks and dials but on the left / near side there is a acewell unit there.
This tiny unit was a god send… This bike was built by Dave at Lincs off my design and thoughts.
I had a hand in building it as well and I have to say that my welding skills are nothing compared to his!!
Oh I nearly forgot the tank with its flush fit fuel cap is a harley special.. ie a aftermarket tank that is for custom jobs.
That was a chore in itself getting all the right componants and making the mountings for the frame.
And I can not forget to mention Bobbyboy who is Canadian …but a good friend of mine he had done the painting for me…
